The author

Robert W. Termanini, MD, is a neurologist and neuroscientist with more than a decade of front line clinical medicine behind him, and the founder and chief executive of BrainWaveTheory Corporation and NeuroPrometrics Laboratories, where his work concerns synaptic transmission, neuroplasticity and multisensory brainwave entrainment.

In practice he went after the cases other clinicians declined. He worked in high security psychiatric and correctional settings, with complex psychiatric and forensic patients, in rooms where a category written on a chart decided how a person would be treated before anyone had spoken to them. He has spent a long time objecting to the vocabulary clinicians use about people who cannot object back. That is not incidental to this novel. It is the subject of it.

He is also a medical educator, an inventor with patent work in neuroelectric diagnostic medicine, and a speaker on mental health, burnout, resilience and performance, with a long standing commitment to suicide prevention advocacy. He is an international number one Amazon bestselling co-author of The Gifts of Pain, Volume 1, published in February 2024.

His fiction runs to several thriller and suspense novels, including a completed manuscript, Retrovision, and two more in progress alongside this one. He writes academic work and speeches in the same weeks he writes chapters, and the interest that runs under all of it is forensic: personality, deception, and the difference between what a record says about a person and what was actually true of them.
